ARTWORK

All I have to say is that you never really realize how beautiful a person is until you try to draw them. It's those imperfections that I love, those quirky features that I enjoy drawing most. Try it. It's the best.

June 5, 2001
DIMENSIONS: 28" x 22"
MEDIUM: Watercolor and marker

I made this poster the day before my graduation for the June 8th Boston concert.

And yes, he smiled... and very coyly, too, when he saw it.

DIMENSIONS: 28" x 22"
MEDIUM: Charcoal and acrylic paint

I started this poster the day before the concert and finished it in a mad dash, spraying a coat of protectant on it two minutes before I rushed out the door.

Edge acknowledged it with a big thumbs up. I used to be really insecure about my drawing ability until he did that. Now it's laminated just for that feeling and that memory. (That should explain the glare on the photo.)

June 9, 2001
DIMENSIONS: 28" x 22"
MEDIUM: Charcoal, white acrylic paint, marker

At the first concert that we went to, when we were actually close enough to see Bono, I could tell he was getting really upset about something. Since Jules and I had decided to stake out the hotel where they were staying at and since I'm totally in love with babies myself, I decided to make this poster, hoping it would cheer Bono up if he wasn't already happy again.

But Jules called me up to leave when I had only put in about an hour or two's work into it, and so I didn't get a chance to clean it up before we left for the Four Seasons.

Read our encounter for the rest of the details.

DIMENSIONS: 22" x 22"
MEDIUM: Watercolor

At the concert, I met this really cool guy who told me that he liked my Edge and Larry posters. I made this one for him just as a gift for being so nice to us to the whole time we were there in the pit.

Likewise, the cool guy we met at the concert also had a really cool friend with him. During the concert, there were these really rude, drunken, and TALL people who kept getting in Jules' way so that she couldn't see. The friend offered to let her in front of him so that she could get a better view. I had to thank him somehow for that selfless gesture, so I drew this picture of his favorite U2er for him.

DIMENSIONS: 12" x 19"
MEDIUM: Pencil

So I spent hours on end staring at Adam's face so I could draw this picture. Always nice to have an excuse to do so, eh?

MEDIUM: Pencil

Em, there's something wrong with this pic. I'm just not sure what...

Yeah, the nose is crooked here. Sorry. I do no justice to Mr. Bono Man.

This is actually just half of a poster; on the other half, it said 'LET LARRY SING.' After the Boston concerts in June, I made it for Jules for the next U2 concert we'd go to. We had no idea we'd be able to use it so soon on a third leg of the tour. We brought it to Baltimore, and Larry stared at it for a bit, but did nothing. We brought it again to the Providence concert we went to on his birthday, where it just happened that someone else had photocopied lots of papers that said the same thing. But alas, Larry would not sing. Hmmph, what a bum... I mean, what a larry!

Julie's favorite Edge pic... His goofy smile always puts a grin on her face, and it had the same effect on me as I was drawing it.
